Abstract |
This study shows that COD and NH4+-N removal has a significant relation with temperature and hydraulic retention time in anaerobic digester, statistically. COD and NH4+-N removal in IFAS reactor has also a significant relation with hydraulic retention time, filling ratio and return sludge ratio. The maximum removal of COD in anaerobic digester(94.02%)was seen at 55°C and HRT=5d and in IFAS(87.93%) at the filling ratio of 50% and return sludge ratio of 70%, in this situation 99.28% of total COD was removed and its concentration was eliminated to 140 mg/l. The maximum removal of NH4+-N in anaerobic digester, IFAS reactor and total system was obtained 35.98%, 91.43% and 94.51% respectively, in conditions of ambient temperature, HRT=5d and filling ratio of 70% with return sludge ratio of 100%, , and final effluent concentration of NH4+-N reached to 9 mg/l. Regarding the results, temperature of ambient and HRT=5d in anaerobic digester and filling ratio of 70% with return sludge ratio of 30% in IFAS were determined as optimum conditions for simultaneous removal of COD and NH4+-N |
