Evaluate the economic and environmental aspects of bag dustbin for waste recovery and recycling in source production in Tehran

Abstract

 because of that is completely closed and firmer, more hygienic than plastic waste bag. The use of plastic waste bags as much as 3.2% decreased after the households have used the waste bag dustbin. With use of waste bag dustbin the cost reduce 54% than use of plastic waste bag fore waste separation. 80% of households believed that the waste bag dustbin have advantages of easier, firmer and strength are better than plastic waste bags. Before and after the intervention percentage of was source separation and recycling at 0.19 and 0.18 respectively, that have not changed, and the difference is not significant. The amount of garbage residual in pre-intervention and post-intervention was 3.98% and 1.58%, respectively. Wet waste before the intervention 62.26% has decreased after the intervention.
Conclusion: the amount separation of recyclable waste from the origin than the use of plastic waste bag no changed. The wet waste in the waste bag dustbin was 62% decrease rather than plastic waste bags in the separation of dry waste, that can enhance the quality of materials made of dry recyclable waste. For 1000000 family that have a separation waste in production site, cost saving was 82,727,270,000 rials per year, which is a significant figure
